Box Production Company is an independent horror studio founded by writer-director Rhiannon Box. We make short films: tightly built, practically made, and designed to stay with you longer than their runtime.
We started in 2020 with a borrowed camera, a basement, and one question: why does so much horror look away at exactly the moment it should lean in? Six years and eight films later, the question hasn't changed. The crew has grown, the festivals have noticed, and the basement is now a studio, but the rule is the same. Lean in.
Our films have screened at genre festivals across North America and Europe and have taken home awards for directing, sound design, practical effects and audience favorite. We're based in Reno, Nevada, and we shoot wherever the story needs to be shot, which is often the high desert after dark.
We work with a small, loyal crew. Every name is credited. Every day is paid. If you want to be on set with us, or want us on yours, say hello.
Fear is anticipation. Blood is punctuation. We spend our budget on the sentence, not the period.
Puppets, prosthetics, wire, smoke, light. If the actors can see it, the audience can feel it. Digital work finishes the shot; it never starts it.
Our mixes are built for a dark room and good headphones. Half of what scares you in our films, you never saw.
A great short is a complete thing. We make ours to be finished and watched, not to be a calling card for something bigger.
The genre only works if you care about who's in the room. We write people first and monsters second.
Our team is the studio. Every name is on the screen and on the invoice. No "exposure" rates, ever.
